The RWS Model 40 Air Rifle in .177 caliber is one of the newest and sleekest additions to RWS line of professional quality High Velocity air guns made in Germany. This startling new design has been factory rated at 1000 feet per second in slim sporter size airgun package. The Model 40 Air Rifle was designed from the start to be used with an airgun scope. Open sights are not included and who would want them anyway. The tack-driving accuracy of the quality RWS German air guns cannot be realized with open sights. The new RWS Model 40 is usually available by itself, or as a package with scope and mounts included.

The most popular RWS M40 Combo Package comes complete with an airgun-rated 4x 32mm scope and a fully adjustable mount. Although an upgrade to a larger, variable power 4-12x scope would make a real premium package. In either case the air gun combo is almost always shipped un-assembled to protect the air rifle and scope in transit.

The standard features on the RWS M40 series air guns, as well as on all the professional grade RWS spring-piston air guns, include an automatic safety, heavy solid steel precision rifled barrel, and the great RWS adjustable trigger. In addition to these standard features, the Model 40 is equipped with a stylish Muzzlebrake of highly polished blued steel. This muzzlebrake really gives the M40 a great balanced feel, and aids in steadiness for off hand shooting. In typical RWS fashion, the genuine hardwood stock is nicely proportioned and, for the M40, is finished off with a quality rubber butt pad. The weight for the M40 rifle is listed at 7.5lbs. Overall length of 45 inches, with a barrel of 19 inches.

Keep in mind that the RWS Model 40 air guns are designed for use with a quality airgun scope only. Open sights are not available. To deliver pinpoint accuracy, top off the high power RWS Model 40 with a quality airgun scope - one that is rated for the scope punishing bi-directional recoil of modern spring-piston air guns. Also mounting your scope with a fully adjustable mount will simplify the mounting proceedure and aid in sighting in.

For pellets RWS recommends the RWS pointed pellet for pest control or the RWS Superdome for long range accuracy and knockdown punch.
